The Hobbit

J. R. R. Tolkien · 2007
🎙 Narrated by Rob Inglis
91/100
👍 Worth It

Bilbo's turn from homebody to reluctant hero still holds up completely — Tolkien blends adventure, humor, and real heart, and the goblins, spiders, and Smaug give it just enough bite without ever turning gory. Rob Inglis's narration, where he actually sings the in-text songs rather than reading them flat, is about as good as audiobook performance gets, so this is absolutely worth the listen.

🎙 Narration: excellent Rob Inglis's narration is widely regarded as one of the finest single-narrator audiobook performances in the genre — distinct voices plus actual singing of Tolkien's songs.
