The Kid from Courage

For a young tennis player who's already eating, sleeping, and breathing junior tournaments, this book will feel like someone finally wrote their life — Brad Gilbert's endorsement isn't empty, and the custody-conflict subplot gives it more emotional texture than most sports-niche middle-grade fiction. Outside that narrow audience, though, the appeal drops off fast, and the absence of any institutional literary recognition makes it hard to recommend broadly. A specialty read for the right kid.
