The Maker of Rainbows and Other Fairy Tales and Fables

Le Gallienne's 1912 literary fairy tales are a cut above the average — his prose is lyrical and the title story's conceit, a mysterious old man who turns tears into rainbows, is genuinely lovely. But this is a specialist's pick rather than a general-audience find: the archaic Edwardian style will challenge most modern readers, and without the cultural footprint of Lang or Grimm the book won't find much of an audience outside literary fairy-tale collectors.
