The Night of Courage is a cheerful, utterly safe chapter book that will delight its target six-to-nine-year-old audience who already love the Melowy series. The themes of friendship and teamwork are handled warmly, but the plot is predictable and the twist is telegraphed early. A fine series read, but not essential for readers new to the characters.
