Children's β¦ Penny’s Take
The Potato Chip Champ
Maria Dismondy Β· 2012
70/100
π Worth It
Maria Dismondy is an award-winning author with real traction in school character-education programs, and this book earns its place there: the sports setting is relatable, the lesson is clear without being heavy, and the educator discussion prompts add practical value. The resolution is predictable and Walter stays an archetype rather than becoming a real character, but those are minor costs for a picture book doing exactly what it sets out to do. A solid classroom tool.
