The first League of Griefers book gives Minecraft-obsessed middle-graders a fast-moving treasure hunt with clear good-versus-evil stakes, and it delivers exactly what that audience wants. The writing is functional rather than memorable, the plot is formula-driven, and the whole thing assumes deep familiarity with game mechanics — readers who do not play Minecraft will find little to hold onto. A fine pick for the target audience, but not one that crosses over.
