Bismark is frightened, his friends help him find his courage, and by the end the trio has snakeskin capes and a proper team identity — it's simple, but it works. The honest caveat is that this is exactly what it's designed to be: a moral lesson in early-reader packaging. Stronger readers in the 6–8 range will find it thin, and it's more enjoyable if kids already know the Nocturnals characters.
