Elmer the underdog elf finding the one answer the big elves missed is a sweet, simple premise that works perfectly well for a holiday storytime with young children. The 1990 Picturebacks format is economical but dated, the illustration style has aged, and there is almost no critical record to lean on. A nostalgic find at a library sale, but not a title worth seeking out over stronger seasonal picture books.
