The Snow Queen

Adrian Mitchell · 2001
74/100
👍 Worth It

Adrian Mitchell was a real poet, and his adaptation of Andersen's Snow Queen feels genuinely crafted rather than merely simplified — the language has texture and the emotional core of the story, Gerda's fierce loyalty and courage, comes through with full force. Nilesh Mistry's illustrations add beauty to a story that already earns its place among the great fairy tales. Out of print in most markets, but worth tracking down if you come across it.
