The Worst Thing About My Sister

Jacqueline Wilson · 2013
76/100
👍 Worth It

Jacqueline Wilson gets sibling dynamics right — the specific, petty, affectionate friction between Marty and Melissa is recognizable enough that almost any kid with a sibling will see themselves in it. Nick Sharratt's illustrations keep the energy up and complement the humor. The one real limitation is that Melissa never gets her own voice, so the reconciliation at the end feels slightly unearned. Still a warm, readable choice for the 8–11 crowd.
