It won the 2017 Parents' Choice Award and School Library Journal called it an imaginative way to teach storytelling — that is a fair read. Kirkus noted the corrective narrator can feel a bit heavy-handed for kids who already love making up their own stories, but for young aspiring writers it is a genuinely fun introduction to how stories are shaped.
