The Cantata Learning music-integration angle is a genuine selling point for classrooms, and the Lexile level is well-matched to early readers. But the adaptation adds nothing creatively new to the tale, and without the accompanying CD or audio access the book loses most of its reason to exist. A solid classroom tool, less compelling as a standalone home read.
