Time of Courage does exactly what the Urban Underground series was designed to do — pull reluctant high-school readers into civic and moral dilemmas through an accessible, culturally grounded urban story. The political-corruption and personal-loyalty tension is genuinely engaging for the target age group, and the barrio setting is underrepresented in classroom fiction. The simple prose and series-depth requirements make it a poor choice for strong independent readers or anyone new to the series.
