Tomie dePaola's warm, rounded illustration style is its own guarantee of visual quality, and the time-travel-to-rescue-a-stegosaurus premise is pure delight for the 3-7 set. The reason this lands just below the line is practical: it is out of print and now primarily a secondhand collectible, and the narrative is very thin even by picture-book standards. A lovely find if you come across it, but not something to actively seek out.
