Children's ✦ Penny’s Take
Tough Enough

As franchise tie-in novels go, this one at least puts the Dawson's Creek cast in a setting — wilderness survival training — that creates genuine variety from the usual small-town drama. But it's essentially inaccessible to anyone who didn't watch the show, it carries no independent literary merit, and the critical record is nearly blank. Fans of the series who have already read the other nine volumes will enjoy it; no one else needs it.
