Trophies, Grade 2

Trophies is a full-scale Harcourt School Publishers reading curriculum for second grade — student anthologies, teacher editions, practice books, and assessment materials bundled into themed units covering friendship, nature, and community. For its intended purpose, it was well-structured and widely adopted across U.S. school districts in the early 2000s. The selections mix fiction, nonfiction, and poetry at appropriate reading levels, and the teacher-support materials are thorough. The honest caveat is context: this is a school curriculum product, not a trade book, and it's now outdated — Common Core-aligned programs have replaced it in most districts.
