Children's ✦ Penny’s Take
Usborne Illustrated Hans Christian Andersen's Fairy Tales
Gillian Doherty · 2011
83/100
👍 Worth It
Usborne knows how to put together a beautiful gift edition, and this one earns its place on the shelf — twelve classic Andersen tales in one padded hardcover, accessibly retold without losing their charm. The Andersen biography is a thoughtful touch that puts the stories in context for curious kids and parents. Some of Andersen's famously bittersweet endings may be softened, which purists will notice, but for introducing young readers to these timeless stories it's a strong choice.
