A well-made regional field guide from an author with real science credentials, covering over 260 species with child-friendly illustrations that have proven their worth in actual classrooms. The illustrations-over-photos choice and one noted species error keep it from being definitive, and it's really only useful if you're in or teaching about Vermont. For Vermont families and educators, though, this is a solid hands-on resource.
