This is a faithful but thin film novelization that borrows all its energy from the 2000 movie rather than standing on its own. The art is bright and the message about inclusion is warm, but there's almost no original storytelling here — it's a souvenir, not a book. The meteor peril and predator chases are age-appropriate for the 2–6 range but worth a preview for the most sensitive little ones.
