This Kirkus-starred picture book biography of Lonnie Johnson — the NASA engineer who accidentally invented the Super Soaker — is exactly what great STEM biography for kids looks like: energetic prose, authentic inspiration, and representation that matters. It earned award recognition from the Beehive, Beverly Cleary, and NSTA lists, and the praise is deserved. At 32 pages it moves fast, but for ages 4 through 8, that's a feature, not a flaw.
