A genuinely beautiful picture book that does something almost impossibly hard — helps a small child feel a lost person's presence in the world around them, without anything scary or maudlin. A Kirkus star and an APA imprint are both earned signals; this is the real thing. Caregiver-facilitated is the right mode for the youngest readers, but that is a feature, not a flaw.
