Zathura the novelization captures the film's propulsive energy reasonably well for young readers who loved the movie, but the profanity flagged by multiple family reviewers is a real concern for the younger end of the 8-12 target range. It doesn't add much beyond the film, and the Jumanji-in-space concept was already derivative when the movie came out. A fine companion for confirmed fans; not worth seeking out otherwise.
